I have always been influenced by the drawings of the old Masters, such as Michelangelo and Raphael, and the beauty of an icon with its rich gold leaf, as well as the Illuminated Manuscripts.
I sometimes combine this "old world" style with a more contemporary subject matter to create a stimulating and innovative feeling. It can be extravagantly detailed or just simply stated. I also enjoy painting colorful and expressionistic figures I call "Contemporary Icons." Using light, color and texture from a variety of mediums, I desire to create something of beauty to uplift the human spirit.
